Joel Gotvald, MD, our board-certified vein surgeon and the medical director of our vein centers, is intently focused on patient satisfaction. Our varicose vein doctors/phlebologists perform every exam and treatment session themselves, rather than utilizing nurse practitioners or physician assistants. Our centers require that the clinical staff maintain the highest level of vein credentialing available, with national certifications as RVT (Registered Vascular Technologists) and RPVI (Registered Physicians In Vascular Interpretation).

Dr. Gotvald is triple board-certified by the American College of Surgeons and the Vascular Board of the American Board of Surgery, with specialty training in Phlebology (the branch of vascular medicine that deals with veins and their diseases). He is board-certified in Vascular Surgery, General Surgery, and Venous Disease Management by the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS) and the American Board of Venous & Lymphatic Medicine (ABVLM), a division of the ACP. Dr. Gotvald is one of only a few dozen physicians in the world who have achieved all 3 of these certifications. This helps to classify him as one of the world’s leaders in venous disease management. He stays on the cutting edge of vein disease management through continuing medical education programs.
As a residency and fellowship-trained vascular surgeon and vein specialist, Dr. Gotvald is considered a local expert in the diagnosis and management of disorders of the circulatory system. He has been performing vein removal procedures for over twenty years.
